Trading estate blast leaves four injured

Four men have been injured following an explosion at a Kidderminster trading estate.

On the 8th of December a compressed air canister exploded at Filtration Service Engineering Ltd, based on the Oldington Trading Estate.

One man injured in the blast sustained serious injuries to his arms and legs, including fractures. He was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.

The three other men injured in the explosion sustained minor injuries and were taken to Kidderminster Hospital.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are now investigating the incident.

Peter Mulhern, a solicitor at Thompsons Solicitors’ Serious Injuries Team said: “Vessels containing compressed air can explode violently for a number of reasons. Explosions of any kind are extremely dangerous and can cause very serious life threatening injuries. The HSE will now investigate to identify the cause of this tragedy to ensure it does not happen again.”
