Can you claim compensation if you do not live in England?

Anyone can bring a claim for an injury that occurred whilst they were on holiday in England or Wales. It does not matter that you are not a British citizen or that you do not live in the UK. If you live in Europe, you can contact us to start a claim on your behalf. You do not need to instruct a personal injury lawyer in your home country, as the English court has the jurisdiction to decide on your claim. We will always try and negotiate a settlement directly with the defendant or their insurer in the first instance.

Is someone at fault for my injury on holiday?

People often assume that no one will be liable to pay them damages, but if someone was wholly or partially responsible for your injury, you may be entitled to compensation. Is there a time limit?

There is generally a three-year time limit from the date an injury is sustained or your date of knowledge of the injury, in which you must begin your claim. Our solicitors can discuss compensation time limits and how they apply to your situation, but it is best to speak to us as soon as you realise that you have a possible claim.

What will it cost?

You may be used to a system in which the injured person needs to pay for the costs of securing legal representation whether the claim is successful or not. In fact, this may put some people off making a claim in the first instance. In England & Wales, it is typically the case that the costs involved in pursuing a claim can be deferred until the end of the case. In a large number of cases, we may be able to offer a `no win, no fee agreement’, meaning that you would not be charged for your legal representation if your claim is not successful. As such, there is no harm in making an enquiry and you have nothing to lose.
