Dr Iuliu Stan served as a locum senior house officer in Trauma and Orthopaedics at the Royal Cornwall Hospital between 2015 and 2020. Following an investigation, it was revealed that Dr Stan engaged in gross misconduct, including performing unnecessary medical procedures on patients, many of whom were male and, in some cases, minors. The tribunal deemed these actions to be for his own sexual gratification.The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust has admitted liability for Dr Stan’s actions, apologising unreservedly to those affected and committing to resolving claims promptly and fairly. Affected patients may be entitled to compensation and support.

Who Is Affected?

The Trust initially contacted 37 patients in January 2024, informing them of the investigation. Subsequently, further letters were sent in mid-2024 to additional patients who may have been impacted.
