Alison Gregory

Alison Gregory is a senior lawyer based in Thompsons' Leeds office, acting for clients throughout Yorkshire and Humberside.

Having qualified as a chartered legal executive in 2008, Alison joined Thompsons in 2019 and has been acting for clients suffering from industrial disease throughout her career.

With her lengthy experience and specialisation, Alison now works on complex and higher value claims across the range of industrial diseases, including hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), noise-induced hearing loss, work-related upper limb disorder and COSHH cases, including occupational asthma and other respiratory conditions, and dermatitis claims.

For Alison, the most rewarding thing about working for Thompsons, is that as a trade union law firm with a unique history of fighting for the rights of the injured and mistreated, she knows that she can focus on ensuring that her clients get the maximum possible financial help in the shortest time possible.

Outside of work, Alison likes to travel, especially to Brisbane, Australia, having both lived and worked there in the past. When not travelling, Alison likes to exercise and meet up with friends. She fits this around being a swim mum, which means early mornings at the pool.

Alison's case experience

• Secured £160,000 for a former process operator/warehouse worker who developed bladder cancer after handling various chemicals having worked at Novartis Grimsby Limited.
• Represented a client in a two-defendant hand-arm vibration syndrome and carpal tunnel syndrome case in which liability was denied. The case settled before it went to trial for £4,000.
• Secured £10,000 for a Warburton's employee working on maintenance who was exposed to excessive levels of vibration from operating grinders, jigsaws and saws. Court proceedings were issued and the claim settled for £10,000.
• Secured £24,000 in damages for a man who developed hand arm vibration syndrome as a result of exposure to vibratory tools whilst employed by Doncaster Council and Cemex.
• Represented a client in an upper limb disorder claim arising from repetitively picking flowers at a factory in Hull and secured £5,000 in damages.
• Represented a Sheffield Steel worker who developed occupational asthma following exposure to metal working fluids, securing a settlement of £38,000.
• Secured over £5,000 for a former fabricator who developed noise induced hearing loss following exposure to excessive levels of noise from grinders with no hearing protection provided.
• Secured more than £8,000 in a noise-induced hearing loss claim arising from excessive levels of noise from grinders, presses and milling machines with no hearing protection.
