Donna Hughes

Donna Hughes is a Legal Executive based in our Leeds office with over 10 years of experience specialising in Claimant Personal Injury. She is a valued member of the Serious Injuries Team at Thompsons Solicitors, where she maintains a small caseload while also supporting senior colleagues in representing clients who have sustained complex and life-altering injuries. Many of the cases she assists with involve settlements that exceed £1 million.

In her role, Donna works closely with clients and their families throughout the legal process, offering consistent support at every stage of recovery. Her approach is marked by deep empathy and a strong focus on client care. She is particularly committed to promoting early access to rehabilitation and addressing the legal, practical, and emotional challenges clients face following serious injuries.

As part of Thompsons' serious injury team, Donna deals with claims involving employers liability, including accidents and assaults at work, public liability, such as Slips, trips and falls, and road traffic accidents.

Donna's dedication to this area of work stems from personal experience. A close family member sustained a serious brain injury in a road traffic accident, giving her firsthand insight into the long-term impact of such trauma and the critical importance of compassionate, informed support. This personal connection informs her professional approach and enhances her understanding of the broader needs of both clients and their families.

Outside of her legal work, Donna serves as Treasurer for Headway Leeds, a charity dedicated to supporting individuals affected by brain injuries. Through this voluntary role, she helps build a supportive community and assists families in adjusting to life after injury.

In her spare time, Donna enjoys travelling, spending quality time with loved ones, and participating in dog showing. She is an active committee member of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Great Britain and regularly competes at national events, including Crufts.
