Jamie's case experience

  • Secured £72,000 for a client, Susan McGuire, claiming unfair dismissal after she was made to reapply for her job as a marketing officer at Wigan Council during a reorganisation of the department. When her reapplication was unsuccessful, Ms McGuire was made redundant.
  • Secured £178,000 in compensation for seven UNISON members employed as substance misuse practitioners by the Greater Manchester West NHS Foundation Trust. The claim for unfair dismissal concerned a TUPE transfer of an addiction treatment service to Arch Initiates.
  • Recovered £50,000 for a specialist nurse whose job offer was withdrawn based on a health assessment and the employer’s view that the claimant’s disability restricted her ability to carry out the role.
  • Secured £158,000 in compensation for workers employed by Manchester Working Limited, in respect to the company’s alleged failure to inform and consult under the TUPE Regs regarding a change to the provider of a public buildings repair and maintenance service.
  • Secured around £400,000 in compensation for trade union members in breach of contract claims, relating to a dispute as to entitlement to enhanced redundancy pay under the members’ contracts of employment.

Testimonials

I can't rate this company enough, especially if you are lucky enough to have Jamie Humphries in your corner. I've had the pleasure of being represented by Jamie and Thompsons for the past few years throughout Covid-19. There are times when I was at my lowest and Jamie never lost hope and never lost patience with me. Jamie Humphries and Alex Tarrier worked hard for me and honestly I couldn't rate this company high enough. If you need a solicitor then look no further than Thompsons, they are excellent.

Thank you for all the work you put into securing today's judgment. I recall very well how you enjoy getting stuck into cases to right the wrongs where union members are at the hands of exploitive companies. I could also see it in you today.

Michael Tighe, Unite Regional Manager

All aspects of my case were handled promptly and professionally. I felt that Mr Humphries had really taken the time to understand the paperwork and he was supportive and approachable giving time to discuss issues often well outside normal office hours.
