Michelle Stewart is a member of the Criminal and Professional Misconduct Advice team at Thompsons Solicitors, based in Newcastle.

?
I am an experienced Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, providing a high level of legal service in Regulatory Law.
I represent Trade Union members facing the investigation of allegations being conducted by their Regulator, primarily the NMC, HCPC, SWE, SCW, EWC, GPC and the TRA.
I have a broad range and depth of experience in providing legal representation and advice to my clients from the screening stage of a referral to a Fitness to Practise Hearing.? Such referrals may involve clinical errors, dishonesty, criminal conviction or sexual misconduct.
Another aspect of my work, typically because of the allegations in a Regulatory case, is that I also provide advice and legal representation relating to DBS Barring; from Enhanced DBS checks, Minded to Bar, to appeals at the Upper Tribunal.
BACKGROUND
I have worked at Thompsons for over 23 years and qualified as a lawyer in 2016.
My area of legal expertise is quite niche, challenging, fast paced and hugely rewarding. ?
My clients have worked and studied hard for years to be practising in their chosen profession.? To therefore be under investigation and face allegations regarding their fitness to practise can impact their livelihood, future career aspirations and home/family life.?
I get a great deal of satisfaction in being able to assist and support my clients during what is an immensely stressful time in their career and life and achieve the best possible outcome for them.
All of my clients are Trade Union members, which makes me feel proud to be able to provide such a valuable service to our clients.
PERSONAL
In my spare time I love touring in my van and visiting new places.? I really enjoy the outdoors and walking with my dogs.? Im a real foodie and jump at the chance of a meal out and experiencing different cuisines!
