Sabeena Pirooz

Sabeena is an experienced clinical negligence solicitor working in the Bristol office as part of the national clinical negligence team at Thompsons.

She is currently working on cases involving complications following surgery involving mesh products. These include many women who allege they were injured due to surgery by the colorectal surgeon, Mr Anthony Dixon. Many of these cases have now come to a successful conclusion.

Her caseload also focuses on assisting children who have sustained brain injuries, particularly cerebral palsy.  

She has experience in cases involving stroke, misdiagnosis, mistakes in surgery, and infection claims and she has represented clients suffering from orthopaedic injuries, cauda equina and necrotising fasciitis.

Sabeena is proud to work for a firm that puts clients' needs at the forefront of everything it does. For her, the most rewarding aspect of working for Thompsons is its social justice ethos and that it works extremely hard to ensure the best possible outcome for clients.

Outside of her work at Thompsons, Sabeena directs The Sky Project, a Bristol-based charity raising awareness of forced marriage and honour-based abuse. The Sky Project were finalists at the South West Business Awards in 2021 and Bristol Life awards in 2022.

In 2023, she was awarded with a Legal Heroes award from the Law Society for her work with the project. In 2020 she was a finalist for the Next 100 years Inspirational Women in Law Awards and in 2016, she won Bristol Law Society Pro Bono Lawyer of the year.

She has made an appearance on ITV west country news, written articles and been on local and national radio discussing the charitable work she does. In 2024, she was interviewed for a Podcast where she discussed her role as a Clinical Negligence Lawyer, Social Justice and Forced Marriages.  

In 2024, Sabeena was appointed as a board member for the South West Ethnic Solicitors Network which actively works towards encouraging those from diverse racial backgrounds to enter into the legal profession. In 2025 She was also appointed to the Executive Board of the Bristol Law Society as a Director.

In her spare time, she enjoys playing netball, current affairs and spending time with her young family.

Sabeena's case experience

• Secured £1.25 million for a claimant who suffered with severe injuries following a Laparoscopic Ventral Mesh Rectopexy (LVMR).

• Recovered £225,000 for a claimant who suffered unnecessary surgeries post LVMR, post-injury symptoms and loss of earnings having been unable to proceed with her chosen career path.

• Secured £113,000 for a claimant who underwent a haemorrhoidectomy which led to a strip of anal sphincter being excised.

• Secured £25,000 for a claimant who was not provided with the correct anaesthetic prior to a laparoscopic appendicectomy.
