Thompsons raises £350 for Breast Friends Sutton Coldfield during Breast Cancer Awareness Month

'

A firm of solicitors has opened its doors to local self-help group Breast Friends Sutton Coldfield to mark October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Thompsons Solicitors, whose offices are on Priory Queensway, hosted a charity lunch and raffle to raise much needed funds and awareness for Breast Friends Sutton Coldfield, which is run by volunteers.

The firm has also hosted a ‘bra bank’ in its Birmingham office to collect unwanted or un-used bras, which can be sold to raise money for the group. With the support of colleagues from its network of 23 offices across the country, the firm’s ‘bra bank’ and fundraising lunch raised over £350.

Breast Friends Sutton Coldfield support women and their families affected by breast cancer

Thompsons were joined at the fundraiser by Gill Harris, a committee member of Breast Friends Sutton Coldfield. She said:

“Breast Friends Sutton Coldfield is a local group run by unpaid volunteers. We offer friendship, support and practical help for women and their families who have been directly affected by breast cancer.

“I’d like to thank Thompsons for their support in helping us to raise over £350 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”

Members of the Thompsons team also put their culinary talents to the test by putting on a
buffet-style lunch for their colleagues, encouraging them to buy their lunch from them rather than heading out to the local shops to raise vital funds for the group.

The funds raised at the event will help the charity to provide practical support to local women who have received a positive breast cancer diagnosis and are receiving treatment.

Delighted to raise over £350 to support Breast Friends Sutton Coldfield

Sian Thompson, a solicitor at Thompsons who arranged the event said: “We’re absolutely delighted that we’ve been able to raise over £350 to help Breast Friends Sutton Coldfield continue its work in supporting women affected by breast cancer across the Midlands.

“We’re a positive bunch, so we’re saying our ‘bra bank’ is half full rather than half empty! But we’d love to be able to collect more donations for Breast Friends Sutton Coldfield in the future and if anyone has any unwanted items and would like to show their support, they would be gratefully received.”

Please send any unwanted bras for the ‘bra bank’ to Thompsons Solicitors, The McLaren Building, 46 Priory Queensway, Birmingham, B4 7LF for the attention of Sian Thompson.
