Legal advice for all with free surgery offer from local solicitor

Leading South Wales law firm Thompsons Solicitors is running free legal advice surgeries for local residents to coincide with the opening of its new office on Castle Street, Swansea on 14 October. Lawyers from the firm, which last year won £35 million in compensation for people in Wales with industrial diseases such as asbestos related diseases and those injured in workplace and other accidents, will be on hand every Saturday morning from 10am-12pm, starting on 15 October.

The team will be available at 30-31 Castle Street to offer advice on any aspect of compensation rights for injury or disease. The team is currently involved in a number of leading cases for victims of asbestos disease, chemical poisoning and catastrophic injury. No booking is required; local residents are invited to simply turn up and meet with some of the most experienced personal injury lawyers in Wales.

The Swansea office opening also follows a recent nationwide survey carried out by the firm which reveals that 94% of Welsh workers are not aware of their rights to claim, and identifies an increasing local need for personal injury advice. The survey also reveals that 83% of the workers in Wales believe that the legal system and the courts are too intimidating. They feel that the system should be improved to make it easier for employees to gain compensation for work related injury or disease, or disability. The Surgeries are aimed at spreading awareness amongst Swansea residents.

Over the years, we've gained unparalleled experience, handling thousands of cases for people suffering from back injuries and asbestos related diseases. We want to make this experience and support available to everyone locally.'

The local team is eager to address the implications of the survey results with the branch opening, as Stevens explains: 'With such an overwhelming percentage of Wales' working population saying not enough is being done, we feel that the new office opening will make an important impact on access to justice for the local working population.'
